Christ Church in Myanmar
A project bringing faith and a future for generations to come
The Project 2025-2027
The goal of the project is to give the Myanmar Lutheran Church better conditions to spread the Gospel and grow as a congregation. Christ Church in Myanmar will become a central place for worship, teaching, and community.
Project Objectives
- Provide the congregation with a permanent location for worship, teaching, and children/youth ministry.
- Create a visible center for Christian fellowship in Yangon.
- Build a strong foundation for future growth and evangelism in Myanmar.
Project Features
- Spacious sanctuary for worship and Holy Communion.
- Sunday school classrooms for children and youth.
- Meeting rooms and offices for church work.
- Practical spaces: a small kitchen, storage, and possibly a guest room for the pastor.

The Vision
In war-torn and impoverished Myanmar, thousands of Christians long for a place where the light of the Gospel can shine brightly. Many gather in humble conditions, without a permanent home for worship and fellowship.
We now have a unique opportunity to change this – together we can build Christ Church in Myanmar, a spiritual home for the congregation and a visible symbol of God’s love in Myanmar.
Why We Need Your Help
To make this vision a reality, we need resources for:
- Architectural drawings and permit processes.
- Building materials and contractors.
- Furnishing and essential equipment.
Your support makes a difference – every gift contributes to creating a spiritual home for thousands of Christians in Myanmar.
How You Can Help
Would you like to support the project?
If you are interested in contributing financially to the project, you are welcome to register your interest now.
Actual donations can be made in the spring of 2026, once our fundraising permit has been granted.

How The Partnership Began
Our partnership with the Myanmar Lutheran Church began in 2012 when I, as chairman of Friends of the Martyred Church, visited Yangon. God had placed it on my heart to seek out brothers and sisters in need of support.
In a simple phone directory I found “Myanmar Lutheran Church” and when I called, Pastor James answered. The next day I visited the congregation and learned that the church had around 4,500 members.
I immediately noticed their strong desire to share the Gospel of the forgiveness of sins. Around 30 pastors and 30 evangelists were faithfully working in various parts of the war-torn country.
Because the church has only male pastors and a traditional Christian view of the family, it receives no support from lutheran national churches in Europe – even though it burns with passion for revival.
During this visit I met Bishop Andrew, who was gravely ill and facing death because he needed a surgery that required prepayment – something the church could not afford. Friends of the Martyred Church decided to fund the operation, and a close and lifelong friendship began.
Since then, our cooperation has grown step by step. Through prayer, practical support, and mutual trust, a vision has emerged: to build Christ Church in Myanmar as the heart of Christian life in the country. The ways of the Lord are truly wonderful and mysterious.
